Everything you need to know about this surf spot

Matadouro is a nice and accessible break close to the Quiksilver Boardriders store with its outdoor skatepark. In front of the parking, on the left side of the big rock in the ocean, you will find an a-frame that produces nice mellow lefts and better quality rights. With the right tide, beginners can also surf on the reform break on the inside, but this needs good timing as it only breaks for a limited amount of time. On the right side of the big rock in the ocean is another surf spot called Paparucos.

Be aware of the many rocks and reef plateaus in the water. With low tide, it’s often too shallow to surf! Matadouro needs a moderate swell to start working properly and can hold up to 2.5 meters. Since this surf spot is sensitive to wind, light winds from the east are preferred.

During the season, this beach has a food truck on the carpark. There are also outdoor showers and toilets available.
