São João do Estoril – Praia da Poça

Everything you need to now about this surf spot

Praia da Poça is one of the breaks in the São João do Estoril area. It is both a reef and beach break. With higher tides the wave breaks over a rocky ledge offering both lefts and rights with barrel sections. The right normally is faster than the left.

When the tide gets lower, the break shifts on to the sandier part of the beach still producing both lefts and rights in front of the restaurant. Be prepared to share the line-up with some of Portugals best surfers.

Please note that the best time to surf this stretch of coast is October to March. In the summer there are usually no waves!
